Can i play xbox live with a wired router, and if i can how can i do it without having 400 feet of cable?

My boyfriend has xbox live and I want to be able to be on the computer while hes on live, is there a way that, that is possible?
okay how do I figure out doing both at once?

how much is a router and where doI get it at?

I have xbox live but I CONSTANTLY get disconnected! why??? I plug the Ethernet cable in the router but I play Gears of war mostly and after one or 2 rounds I get disconnected does anyone know why? or how to fix this problem?

Ok, I tried connecting my xbox 360 to the internet using my laptop by using and ethernet cable(which has wireless internet) but it didn’t work so do I have to connect the ethernet cable to the router for the xbox live to work. Also I have a wireless pen drive thingy will that work instead of the microsoft wireless thing which is like £70.00?

Alright so I have just about everything I need for Xbox Live.
I have DSL High Speed and a Xbox 360.
My router has a one ethernet slot and a USB port. If i connect the ethernet cord from my modem to my Xbox 360 and a USB cord from the back of the modem into my computer will I be able to get Xbox Live?

there is a problem with my xbox live. i ran an Ethernet cable from my router to the xbox. it says that it is connected, but there is a problem with the IP address. I input my computer’s IP address into it, and that didn’t work either, so i took it out. We have 3 computers on our router. Any help? i am new at it, i do not have a gamertag. The xbox works by itself though. and my internet works fine too.

I need to connect to xbox live, but the problem is the room that holds the router is locked because the roommate left for spring break. But its broadcasting wireless. There has to be a way to connect to the wireless on my pc and use an ethernet to connect it between my laptop and my xbox to connect it to xbox live. Does anyone know how. I’m thinking about buying a seperate router for Xbox live since my other router is near my computer and there is no way to hide a cable because the bathroom is between the TV and the Computer. Anyways I was wondering if I did get a router would there be two prices one for xbox live, one for the regular tv use? Or would it all be in one price sent to a bill to my parents and not to me? I know this is confusing but I really don’t get it.

I have tried to join xbox live a while back, but honestly I have no idea how. My friends tell me I need wifi and a wifi router or an ethernet cable. I have a wifi router downstairs from the xbox 360, so can I set up a connection without buying anything else? Also do I make a gamertag using the internet or the xbox itself? Thanks for your help!

Is there a way to log into a xbox account without logging into xbox live? Whenever the xbox is on, it sucks up ALL the bandwitdh. I’m not going to take out the router on the back of the xbox.
