ok so I don’t have much money to buy a Xbox 360 and my budget is low so I can’t buy the latest one right now. So I plan on getting the Xbox arcade with Black ops. The problem is i heard about the whole red ring of death thing. Is it safe to buy one for like 0 at gamestop?

ok so like a year ago i got red ring of death, but i don’t really play many video games so i decided to jst stuff it in the closet. Now no lights show up when i press the power button or the disc eject button and the power source light flashes green. Well now i see an awesome looking game coming out,so i called xbox support. The lady told me the repair would be and i dnt have that much money. So are there any really cheap ways to fix my xbox??????

My xbox FINALLY got the 3 red rings. I say this in a happy mood because xbox would not repair it unless it got the 3 red rings. I had almost every problem you could imagine. Power button was tough to push, DVD tray was failing (opened 1/3 tries), it would freeze up a minimum of 3 times a day, or get disc unreadable (even if the disc isn’t being read), randomly would get "this disc is for an xbox 360 only" (no duh, that’s why I put it in a 360!!), and the final image it showed while it froze had artifacts.

Anyway, back to my question. Since it seems all xbox’s made after 10/23 have a complete redesign that is said to completely fix the red ring of death, do you think Microsoft will attempt to repair my box or just ship me a new one?

My xbox 360 has been messing up "unplayable disc error" "red ring of death twice" A couple other things also.

I sent a request for repair via online about 2 months ago It took 4-ever to get the box to send it back in I even had to call them.

Well My xbox 360 within that time perios began working on and off again,So I couldnt bear to send it in,With the new call of duty 4 coming out and how can i live without my online play?lol

So now its screwd up tottaly wont even half a** work.I went online cancled old repair cause lady told me that it had to sent within 30 days or order would be cancled.

Started a new repair via online,I really dont want to have to wait 4-ever for a new box can I use the old one they already sent last time but never used?? anyone know
Will probably just call them again when i called them last time I got my box within A week of the call,but i called because it had been 2 weeks.So maybe it does take longer placing order online.So ill call em.

Hey my Xbox 360 has a Disc unreadable error on several different games and it has happened to me 3 times, right in the middle of a game. And the only way to get playing is to manually turn the Xbox off and then turn it back on. I’ve heard this is a tell-tale sign that the Xbox is going to get an RROD? (red ring of death).

I bought the Xbox second hand from a friend one month ago. It was working great for him (and I know thats true I played it at his place alot) and it’s working great for me too. Although the reason he sold it was cause he had to move.

Anyway I’m worried the RROD is going to strike me lol, and since I’m second owner the 3 year warranty is void. Should I try to sell it asap or if I do get it, my main question is, how hard is it to do a home repair? My dad is an aircraft technician and a previous electrictian so I’m sure he and I could fix it. But I’m wondering if it generally requires new parts?

Anyway thanks! Also is the disc error related to RROD?

I am the second owner, he was the origional owner who origionally had a RROD and he got it fixed through Microsoft. I’m assuming that since Microsoft had it it should be fine? But maybe not?
lol so the problem I have- could it be a dirty laser reader? I heard that could be the potential problem.

I haven’t played my Xbox 360 S (the all black, 250 gb one) in about three days, so when I went to play it today, it told me i needed to update the console, or else the system will shut down. So I gave it the "okay" to update, and somewhere near the end, the rings around the xbox lit up red (even though the red ring of death was supposed to be eliminated from this version of the console) and some error message in Japanese popped up. Well, I restarted the console, hoping things hadn’t gotten too bad.

Upon restarting it, on first site, it seemed everything was fine, until i went to sign into xbox live. This error message keeps popping up, saying "One or more profiles aren’t valid. Please select a profile that contains a valid membership or recover your profile from Xbox Live". After trying to fix the problem on my own by Googleing it and going to xbox’s website, nothing worked. So, i just blew off using xbox live, and went to play one of my games, but it didn’t work…NONE of my games work, only dvds.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or solutions that don’t require sending in the xbox for repair. I’ve had my xbox less than a month (got it on christmas) so i still have the warranty, but i want sending it in to be more of a last resort thing. Is there anyway to re-install the update? Has anyone else had this problem and have had some type of luck fixing it? Any help would be greatly appreciated
