When you replace the dvd drive you need to remove the PCB board from the old dvd drive and install it on the new one. Thanks to Jhonnita

Replacing Xbox 360 DVD drive

Warning, this ONLY applies to the Toshiba/Samsung drive! This is part 1 of a step-by-step walkthrough on how to replace your DVD drive. If you’re games are taking longer and longer to load, you get a lot of dirty disc errors, or worse, you get the screen saying “Place this disc in an XBox 360 to play,” then this is for you. A couple notes: 1. This image will give you a better idea of which screws take out: dancrum.org 2. The white ribbon cables inside the DVD drive are VERY fragile. Be careful! That said, good luck!

Part 2 of 3. Thumbstick or trigger on your XBOX 360 controller broken? Or just plain worn out from hours upon hours of gameplay? Here’s a video tutorial on a soldering method you can use to replace the parts in about 25 minutes. Be sure to hit up the DIY section of the Viking360 forums to discuss mods with other thrifty do-it-yourselfers. www.Viking360.com At a minimum you will need *1.) A soldering iron and some solder. *2.) Desoldering sucker OR desoldering braid from radio shack (either will do the trick) *3.) The replacement trigger or thumbstick mechanism, and of course *4.) The special screwdriver to open up the controller. By the time you purchase all of this equipment I’m sure you’ll find that it would be cheaper just to purchase a new controller. But, if you happen to have some of this equipment on hand (including a ‘donor’ circuit board to get the replacement parts from) then you can save some money by replacing the part yourself. Of course we assume you already know how to open and disassemble your XBOX 360 controller using a Torx-8 ‘tamper resistant / security’ screwdriver. This video is just demonstrating the soldering, for those of you who haven’t done a lot of soldering before. We use a lot more tools than what we listed above, because we do a lot of mod work. If you do a lot of mod work for your family or friends, it might be worth charging them a modest fee so you can start buying some of this useful equipment for your workbench.
