Video showing how to fix the XBOX 360 problem of the disc drive opening and closing over and over again. The problem is the magnet that keeps the drive from opening is only held in place by 3 little posts that break after a period of time. The drive is then not held in place and thus, opens. You can also use this tutorial to remove a game that is stuck inside a drive that will not open.

Let me start by saying that I had no intention to criticize either the XBOX 360 or the Playstation 3. This video is simply showing me fixing a minor annoyance in an XBOX 360 Controller. All that 360/PS3 Fanboy stuff? Keep it to yourselves. I am actually very fond of the 360 Controller due to its’ ergonomically-friendly (more comfortable) design. I’m a proud PS3 owner and I like the Dualshock3 controller but it’s just not as comfortable. This video is mainly for the use of people who are DIY (do-it-yourself) people and wish to open a 360 controller themselves to fix it. I can pretty much guarantee you won’t break your controller as long as you follow what I did in this video. I only left out minor scenes such as unscrewing/rescrewing more screws or wiping the XBOX Button with a cotton ball + rubbing alcohol. Those are self-explanatory. Whoever does use this video for that purpose, good luck to you and I hope you fixed the problem whatever it had been :]

I discovered this when i was fiddling around with the xbox, i believe this works because the X clamps on the back are not tight enough, and when you apply pressure on the back of the xbox it places the clamps back into the correct position. Also make sure that you are appliying enough pressure (not to much to break through the xbox, but enough that you can feel the case bend). if you do this, remember to very very slowly tilt the 360. DO NOT tilt it in any other direction while the disc is spinning except up. if you do you will scratch your disc. badly. use at your own risk. this is how i fix any disc read problem with my 360. i’m guessing since the drive is so old the motors are unable to move without the little help of gravity with the faceplate facing up. or it could do something with the magnet that holds the disc in place, i’m not sure yet.
