I took apart my old disk drive and took out the small motor that spins the disk around. I was just wanting to know if anyone out there knows how to get it to run off of AA batteries. I would also like to know what those two dots are on the sides of the video. the red 1 and the bluish-green one. they are also on the video camera LCD when I make the video.

Okay, so the other day i was messing around, and just happened to find out this actually worked for me. This is an old xbox that had been laying around. It was one of the first produced 1st gen xbox 360s, so your results may vary. If you try and it does not work, maybe try to unplug and try again. Its a halo 3 edition xbox 360, never had an issue with it before this. i play (or rather played) alot of mw2 on this thing, usually for like 5 or 6 hours at a time. one day after a long mw2 session, i put the disk in, and heard this buzzing noise, and got that “open tray” problem. so i took the xbox apart. turns out it has something to do with the motor that spins the disk. for a few days, it worked to just spin the disk manually, then the motor would pick it up the speed and spin at high rpm. now it just does what you see in the video. the DVD drive is a Hitachi GDR-3120L
