Warning, this ONLY applies to the Toshiba/Samsung drive! This is part 1 of a step-by-step walkthrough on how to replace your DVD drive. If you’re games are taking longer and longer to load, you get a lot of dirty disc errors, or worse, you get the screen saying “Place this disc in an XBox 360 to play,” then this is for you. A couple notes: 1. This image will give you a better idea of which screws take out: dancrum.org 2. The white ribbon cables inside the DVD drive are VERY fragile. Be careful! That said, good luck!

This is a common problem that happen’s to xbox 360′s and I decided to make a How-To-Vid showing you huys just how to do it.

Fixing the “Unplayable Disc” problem for the Xbox 360 Hitachi Disc Drive: 1.) Disassemble your 360 and strip it down to the inner machina. 2.) Unplug the two cords from the back of the disc drive. 3.) Remove the disc drive and use a knife to take off the circular piece on the top of the drive. 4.) Remove the magnet that is placed underneath the circular piece. 5.)Unscrew the top and bottom casings of the disc drive. 6.) Use a lubricant such as WD-40 to lubricate the spindle of the motor on the bottom part of the disc drive. 7.) Super-Glue the washer of the disc drive into place. 8.) Re-plug your disc drive back into your console. 9.) Eject the disc tray. 10.) Place a game disc into the disc tray. 11.) Place the top magnet over the center of your disc. 12.) Close the disc tray. 13.) Make sure the laser reads up and down the entire disc. 14.) Get back to playing your games without the “Unplayable Disc” error. -Tweed

**READ PLEASE** Right, so, made a version that has my xbox actually in it. Disc drive is still working fine (Thank you very much) now the only real problem now is that my xbox has cancer(RROD). Which pretty much means that all the chemo (towel trick fixes) is going to do is just prolong its life until its inevitable death. I’ll buy a new xbox when this happens. This means that there will most likely be no more fix vids b/c the new xbox’s don’t use hitachi drives. I recently learned how to fix the RROD for a measly after I just bought a new xbox. I do it so check back every once in a while.

How to fix a 360 with a faulty dvd drive without voiding the warranty and it’s free, HIT IT!! When you have a faulty gadget and you look for a solution, 9/10 times some joker will say “have you tried hitting it” or “yell at it”. It turns out they might not all be smart arses and are genuinely trying to help. I’ve been doing this for months now, sometimes it works first time others it can take 5 or ten mins. I play MP BF Bad Company everyday so I have to do this daily and then I end up leaving the console on for hours because it’s a pain to have to beat it up if I want to play a game. I had a release core for ages, then I got a free 360 with a phone so I thought it would be a good idea to sell the older console and keep the new one. The new 360 got rrod, m$ fixed it and then the 1 I got back won’t read any discs. I don’t get any error code or disc read errors, it just doesn’t think there’s a disc in the tray. M$ won’t do anything because it’s now over a year old and there’s no rrod. I don’t know why it works but it does It is definitely not a good idea but it just has to survive a daily kicking until MW2 is out.
