@satansludge k this is what i think you did wrong. You have the wrong board in the new dvd drive. I think so because if you put the wrong board in the drive it will still play dvds but not play video games so put in the other board that you have, hopefully you still have it and its should work. And you say you fixed your wifes x box is it still running? What did you do to it to fix it?

  • satansludge says:

@SuperBrandango It’s the correct board, thats what I did wrong in the 1st place, The other board makes the dvd eject, it doesn’t actually close long enough for the disc to spin. I’d turn off the 360 and it would eject as it turned off. If it was the wrong board the 360 would’nt reconise it at all would it ?
The wifes xbox. I tried for an hour to load games dvds and nothing, totally pissed I unpluged it from power & played ps2 burnout 3 for many hrs, tried one more time and it worked lucky me !

this is bad idea…why not just flash the drive…Phillips to Benq..i can do this within 1min without opening the drive

  • Bowerskid says:

I have to lite on drive and the one in the video so I can’t change the boards around what can I do

  • SuperBrandango says:

@satansludge well it sounds like you are screwed. My last option is to take it to a computer tech and let him give his 2 sense on it. Or just overheat the dam thing again and hope for the best i thought you fixed your wifes xbox?

  • satansludge says:

@SuperBrandango Yeah looks like it. The wifes xbox just started to work. As I said I unplugged it for at least 4 hours when I tried it before I went to bed it worked, very lucky. I was moving it between the lounge room and my sons room, so the constant movement must of not helped so it now stays in the lounge room. The kids are getting new ones for xmas, there was a special so we got them for $199 each so I hope they work well.
Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it.
    Take care.

I accidentally removed the ribbon cable that you were not supposed to remove, it won’t go back in, any ideas.

  • itsbleepingolden says:

How come you do not use solder when your soldering the wires onto the board, great videos, help a lot

  • SuperBrandango says:

haha. Personally i think you should have gotten them the new slim black one for 300 bucks. I think it will be better cause they mashed the two chips together and put a big heat sink and fan on top. This design is virtually red dot of death proof as now they call it lol.

  • sparKx52 says:

@itsbleepingolden All bin cables have latches that keep them in place. These latches vary in respect towards how you unlatch them, but most likely you have to pull the tab at the end of the bin connector out.

Mutherfucker. why is the philips light 10$ more than everything else!

  • savesomeface says:

@dreamyear it gets flashed incorrectly, the drive is bricked. that’s why not. some people are mech savvy and not tech savvy.

  • dreamyear says:

@savesomeface backup firmware of drive…no need to worry about it

  • callumjones158 says:

    IT WORKED!!!!!!! :D :D :D

  • NGui79 says:

@kinkyslinky21 Did you buy the drive from them? Does it play game, I read something about some code? Let me know!!!

Good poop you got your working again!

  • NGui79 says:

@blayesnow what I was thinking, I’m PRETTY SURE WE CAN

  • kinkyslinky21 says:

@NGui79 I got my drive from eBay and it plays all my games like normal. I had to go out and buy a soldering iron at WalMart for about $5 but after that I went step by step with the video and I tested it out and it worked! I also would like to point out that at 8:53 when you take out the laser ribbon from the old drive and put it into the new drive, the port that it goes into has a little plastic piece that pulls out that will allow you to remove and put the ribbon cable back in with ease
