How long does a xbox 360 last after the red ring of death?

I got the red ring of death (RROD) a week ago. I did the towel trick and it is working fine now. But since Christmas is coming up i don’t want to get Xbox 360 games if they are going to break in a couple of weeks. I have a PS3 also and I need to know so I can ask for PS3 games not Xbox 360 ones.

every console has a warranty of 3 years for RROD, so if ur console has warranty send it to microsoft. then there wont be any problem they will replace urs.
If u want some specific game that is available only in xbox then buy for xbox otherwise go for PS3 and have peace of mind.
After the red ring death is repaired. It should last you a while. You just need to keep you console in a well vented area.
I would place the Xbox in a cool an well ventilated area. Also I would set it horizontally so that the DVD player faces upwards which should help reduce scratches on your games.
